The Art of Being Apart
‘The Art of Being Apart’ is a result of artistic collaboration of all the pupils and staff in the school under the Creative Schools Initiative inspired by our need to social distance during the Covid-19 pandemic. It can be found and viewed for public enjoyment at the front of our school building.
It shows how the children depicted being socially distant, in their real and imaginary worlds, at a time when being apart was the best way of caring, both for those we would really love to be with and society in general.
The hexagonal shape is a the shape of a bee cell. Each class designed one hexagon which reminds us also that school is a busy vibrant place, just like a beehive. Also in a beehive each bee works towards the success of the hive, as everyone is currently doing in trying to work through the Covid-19 pandemic.
The artwork was ‘officially’ unveiled on Monday 28th June 2021, when a socially distanced opening ceremony was held.
We hope you will enjoy looking at ‘The Art of being Apart’.
