National Parent Council Talk: The Transition from Primary to Post-Primary

The transition from Primary school to Post-Primary school can be a challenging time for students and their parents. For the students, changes can be emotional, physical, and academic. They go from being senior in their Primary school to junior in their Post Primary School.

Students have to manage a broader range of subjects and subject options, more teachers, more homework, longer school days, new friends, and very often their
parents’ anxiety.
For parents their challenges can range from choosing the school that best suits their
child’s needs, to issues such as subject options, bullying, new relationships,
friendships, homework, finance and their child’s anxiety.

Our Parents Council has organised for the National Parents Council Primary (NPC) to deliver a talk for our parents on preparing their children for this transition from primary school to post-primary school.

This talk will be beneficial to those parents whose children are about to or have made the transition from Primary to Post Primary education. This session
will be held in the PE hall at 19:00 on Tuesday 28th May.
